this morning when i woke up two people had sent pictures of ways they like to use my books other than, uh, reading them.
i thought it was nice. especially the “talk to me” part, wow.
this is a picture of Wayne Koestenbaum and me at CUNY this past november. it was a jew freak loveliest during which we committed, before witnesses, to writing a trilogy together: two essays and an opera. his colors were red and white and mine were black and green, obv. i feel my sbarro diet coke was not bad at all as last-minute accessory. we discussed wayne’s newest book HUMILIATION and some of mine, esp MERCURY. the official title for this conversation had something to do with pleasure and abasement, or the pleasures of abasement in poetry.
i didn’t know they published this, i didn’t give it to them, but they published it.
